The Sheep – Bronte Porcelain
The original idea for the sheep was based on a lady who owned the sweet shop opposite Christchurch College as she was very old. Alice Liddell, remarked to Lewis Carroll that she sounded like a sheep, as she was very old. The candle extinguisher depicts jars of sweets and tins of biscuits underneath her chair. The character is seen here holding the silver knitting needles to her fleece as she knits herself.
